Steiger, Alma (28 AUG 1892 - 2 FEB 1966)

 

Mrs. William C. Steiger, 73, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 1966, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Elmer Steiger, Canoga Park, Calif., where she had been spending the winter months.  She had suffered a stroke about a week ago.

 

Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Immanuel United Church of Christ with the Rev. Orval Egbert officiating.  Burial was made in the West Side Cemetery here.

 

Hill Funeral Home had charge of funeral arrangements.

 

The former Alma Humke was born Aug. 28, 1892, at Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), and was married here May 14, 1914, to William C. Steiger, who preceded her in death March 19, 1963.

 

Her husband had been a cheesemaker in the Greenwood area until his retirement in 1954 at which time the Steigers moved to the city of Greenwood.  Mrs. Steiger left for California in the fall.

 

She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, the Women’s Guild, and the Greenwood Order of Eastern Star.

 

Survivors include her son, Dr. Steiger, a daughter, Mrs. Ary (Elsie) Arneson, Spring Valley; two brothers, Theodore Humke, Neillsville; and George Humke, Greenwood; a sister, Mrs. Helen Rossman, Spokane, Wash.; and six grandchildren.
