Walter, John #2 (15 NOV 1886 - 6 MAR 1950)
John Walter, 63, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield on Monday, Mar. 6, 1950.
Mr. Walter was born on Nov. 15, 1886, in Germany and came at the age of two years, to America with his parents. The family settled on a farm in the town of York (Clark Co., Wis.). He lived there until his marriage to Miss Rose Schmidt on Nov. 13, 1917. They then settled on another farm in the town of York. They lived on this farm until about a month ago, when they moved to the new home they built in the city of Loyal.
Surviving Mr. Walter are his wife, one son, Eugene of York; also his mother, Mrs. George Walter of York; four brothers, George of Loyal and Joseph, Louie and Tony of York; two sisters, Mrs. Leo (Mary) Schecklman and Miss Anna Walter of Loyal, and three grandchildren.
The Rev. Fr. Aloys Zinthefer of Loyal, the Rev. Fr. John Novak of Greenwood and the Rev. Fr. John Pritzl of Neillsville officiated at the solemn requiem high mass at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at 9 a.m. last Thursday. A general rosary service was held at the Loyal Funeral Home at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 8. Burial was in St. Anthony’s Parish Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Louie, George, Joseph and Tony Walter, and George and John Schmidt.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schmidt, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schmidt, and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Becker of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schecklman of Greenwood; Misses Eleanor and Ann Walter of Milwaukee and Frank Maurer of Marshfield.
The Tribune extends to the bereaved the sympathy in the loss of a beloved relatives.
