Cook, Marion L. #2 (13 MAR 1868 - 14 MAR 1950)
Mrs. Jason Cook, 82, died at her home at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Mar. 14, 1950. Mrs. Cook had been an invalid for several years.
Mrs. Cook, the former Marion Louise Borden, was born On Mar. 13, 1888. She was one of a family of 11 children. She received her education in Loyal and on June 22, 1883, was married to Jason Cook. He died in 1904. She was a member of the local Methodist Church for 66 years, a record probably held by very few others.
Ill health prevented her taking an active part in church or community affairs for many years, but she was always interested in the better things in life.
Mrs. Cook is survived by two sons, Elwin of Loyal and Price of Grassy Butte, N.D.; two daughters, Mrs. John (Belle) Mengel of Wibaux, Mont., and Mrs. Victor (Elsie) Ivie Of National City, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Myra) Nichols of Waupaca and Mrs. Albert (Florence) Cowles of Eagle Bend, Minn.; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Four children, five brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. last Friday at the Loyal Methodist Church, with Rev. Lee Holmes officiating. Interment was in the Loyal Cemetery.
The hymns, "God Will Take Care of Your," "My Mother’s Bible" and "Under His Wings," were sung by Mrs. Calvin Prior and Mrs. G. W. Nelson, with Miss donna Mae Gotter as organist.
Pallbearers were Ray Prior, Bert Mengel, Walter Krahn, George Rowley, George Drake and Herbert White.
Those from out of town attending the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Bentzler and son, Kerry, of Thorp, Mrs. Otis Huff and Mrs. Howard Fredericks of Ashland, Mrs. Myrtia Berrett, Mr. and Mrs. Verland Berrett, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Berrett, Mr. and Mrs. Emery Voie and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Brandt of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Wendt of Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Pietenpohl and Mr. and Mrs. Wendel Crothers of Granton.
The Tribune extends to the bereaved its sympathy in the loss of a beloved relative.
