Degnitz, Walter A. (28 July 1913 - 16 February 1980)

 

Curtiss - Walter A. Degnitz, 66, died of an apparent heart attack at 10 p.m. Saturday at his home.

 

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the Rev. Alan C. Minshall officiating and burial in Town of Beaver Cemetery.

 

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford.

 

He was born July 28, 1913 in the Town of Adell, Sheboygan County, and in 1917 moved to the Town of York, rural Granton, and attended school there.  In 1932, he moved to Loyal and in 1942 to Abbotsford where he was employed by Harold Christensen until 1952.  He then worked for O & N Lumber Co. there before moving here in 1956.  He worked for Bowen Feed Mill and at the time of his death was with the Green Thumb project of Clark County.

 

A member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, he had served as constable for the village of Curtiss and was a  member of Curtiss Volunteer Fire Department.

 

On Sept. 28, 1937 at Spencer, he and Leona Warnke were married.  She survives; also surviving are one brother, Alvin Degnitz of Marshfield, and a sister, Mrs. Elaine Sura of West Allis.
