Benedict, Merle H. #2 (22 DEC 1887 - 23 MAY 1950)
Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Merle Benedict of the town of York (Clark Co., Wis.), who died at their home on May 23, 1950, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 26, from the Loyal Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lee Holmes officiating. Burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery.
Merle Harvey Benedict was born on Dec. 22, 1887, in the town of York. He was the son of Sanford and Margaret Benedict. He is survived by one son, Harvey, at home; a sister, Mrs. Belle Smith of Loyal; two brothers, William and Rollie Benedict of the town of York, and many other relatives.
Nora Elizabeth Judd was born on Sept. 9, 1891, at Rubicon. At the age of six years, she moved with her parents to a farm in the town of York, where she lived until her marriage to Mr. Benedict on Oct. 18, 1911. Surviving her, besides her son, are a sister, Mrs. Archie Powell of Spring Valley, three brothers, Alvin Judd of Evans, Wash., Bill Judd of Spokane, Wash., and Art Judd of Loyal, and many other relatives. Both were highly respected and leave many friends to mourn their loss.
Pallbearers were Ray Prior, Bonnie Wehe, Henry Anderegg, Edgar Vick, Ray Hannan, Nate Turner, Jake Anderegg, Anton Spangler, Ray Mortimer, Frank Oestreich, Lawrence Davel and James White.
Those in charge of flowers were Donna Lulloff, Arlene Peterson, Rita Hannan, Georgia Benedict, Virgene Kronberger, Viola Bartsch and Mary Oestreich.
Mrs. Ray Prior, Mrs. Calvin Prior and James and Raymond Colby sang "Sometime We’ll Understand" and "Under His Wings," with Miss Donna Gotter as accompanist.
Out of town relatives who came for the services were Alvin Judd of Evans, Wash., William Judd of Spokane, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Bert Parsons of Columbus, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Powell and Virgil and Lowell Powell of Spring Valley, Cecil Powell of Thorp, Mrs. Clifford Lansing of Plum City, Mr. and Mrs. Lucian Close and daughter, Eleanor, of Fond du Lac, and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Rundle and daughter, Janice, and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Smith and son, Timothy and Paul, all of Racine.
