Schmidt, Lorraine (1 Jun 1950)

In a nuptial ceremony performed at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 1950, Miss Lorraine Schmidt of Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schmidt of Bennett, became the bride of Garth Luchterhand of Loyal.  The Rev. Mr. Bergman officiated at the ceremony at the First Presbyterian Church in Bennett.

For the ceremony the bride wore a gown of white slipper satin, featuring long sleeves that tapered to points over the wrists, a fitted bodice, a full skirt extending into a train, and a low neck with a scalloped bertha collar embroidered with seed pearls.  Her veil was edged with Alencon lace attached to a tiara of seed pearls.  She carried a bridal bouquet.

Miss Doris Schmidt, sister of the bride, as maid of honor, wore a blue taffeta dress with a scalloped embroidered bertha collar and blue net shoulder length veil.  She carried a bouquet of talisman roses with white sweet peas.  Long white gloves completed here ensemble.

Ted Sannwald of Minong was the best man, and the bride’s brothers, James and Elwood Schmidt, were the ushers for the ceremony.

The bride is a graduate of the Greenwood High School, with the class of 1942, and the Superior State Teachers College, and the groom is a graduate of the Loyal High School, with the class of 1935.  Mrs. Luchterhand has taught in the Loyal public grad school for the past few years, while the groom operates the Luchterhand Implement Co.

To the newlyweds, the Loyal Tribune extends its wishes for a long and happy married life.
