Kissling, Ernest DuWayne #2 (? - 27 August 2010) With Flag

Ernest Kissling, 83, of Neillsville died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, in the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Ernest DuWayne Kissling was born at home in the Town of Grant, rural Neillsville, the son of Harry and Alice (Meddaugh) Kissling.  He attended Cunningham Grade School and graduated from Neillsville High School.  Upon his 18th birthday, Ernest enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the pacific aboard the USS Commencement Bay.  He was honorably discharged in 1947 and then returned home to help his father on the family farm.  June 8, 1950, he was united in marriage to Jane M. Pepper at the Methodist Church in Neillsville.  At about that same time, Ernest began working for Rollohome in Marshfield.  Later, he went to Marshfield Homes, which was later sold and renamed Wick Building Systems.  Ernest retired in 1990, but he always remained active puttering around in his shop at home.

In his spare time, Ernest enjoyed hunting and fishing, ice fishing and camping, where he could hunt or fish.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; a son, Michael (Patti) Kissling of Ruidoso, NM; a daughter, Vicki Kissling of Miami, FL; a granddaughter, Cassandra Fox of Wasilla, AK; and a sister, Donna Lee of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service for Ernest will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville.  Pastor Douglas Bjerke will officiate.  Military Honors will be accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council.  Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Gesche Funeral home.
