Catlin, Nellie F. (23 AUG 1868 - 24 JUN 1950)

 

Death came to Nellie F. Catlin, 82, on Saturday, June 24, 1950, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, following a lingering illness.

 

She was born in Sheboygan County on Aug. 23, 1868, the daughter of Albert and Eliza Darton.  When she was three years old, she moved with her parents to the town of Unity (Clark Co., Wis.), where they settled on a farm.  Her education was received in the local schools, and she taught school for a number of years in the vicinity of Loyal.

 

In 1887 she was united in marriage to Harrison Drake of Unity.  To this union was born one son, Allie G. Drake.

 

On Sept. 23, 1901, she was united in marriage at Neillsville to Frank Catlin of Loyal.  They spent their married life in the area farming, until about four years ago, when they moved to the village of Spencer.  He passed away three months ago.

 

She is survived by her son, Allie G. Drake of Loyal; two grandsons, Glen Drake of Madison and Verlon Drake of Muskegon, Mich.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Ralph (Elaine) Wakefield of Longview, Wash.; two great-grandchildren, and one adopted son, Ernest Simmons of Medford, besides other relatives.

 

Funeral services were held at the Swarthout Funeral Home in Spencer on Tuesday, June 26, with the Rev. Lee H. Holmes of Loyal officiating.  Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Frank, Fred and Albert Seefeldt, Lee Schofield and Ira and Edward Meacham.  Wives of the pallbearers were in charge of the floral arrangements.

 

Out of town persons attending the services were Dr. and Mrs. M. B. Ketchpaw of Bloomer, Lynn Catlin of Wis. Rapids, Glen Drake of Madison, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Simmons and family of Medford, Mrs. Leon Kuester of Greenwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Catlin of Neillsville.
