Stayton, William E. #2 (24 FEB 1896 - 26 AUG 1950)
William Ernest Stayton, 54, died in downtown Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), on Aug. 26, 1950, as the result of a heart attack suffered while sitting in his car.
The son of Carson and Mary Jane (Janney) Stayton, he was born at Richland Center on Feb. 24, 1896. He came to this vicinity in 1914 and has been engaged in farming here ever since. He was married to Laura Bertha Stumpner at Neillsville on Nov. 18, 1919. Mr. Stayton was a member of the United Brethren Church at Richland Center.
Surviving, besides his widow, are six children, Luella Fink of Chicago, Alvira Olsen of Watertown, Carl Stayton of Milwaukee, Marjorie Pickett and Nancy Stayton of Loyal, and Robert Stayton of Wausau; two grandchildren, and three sisters, Bessie Schaffner of Bonners Ferry, Ida., Margaret Storms of Richland Center, and Erma Ewing of Logansville.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 30, from the Myre Funeral Home, with the Rev. J. C. Langholz officiating. Burial was in the Loyal Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lothar Oestreich, Garth Luchterhand, Buford Schoonover, Ed Haslow, Haskel Catlin and Fred Clouse. Honorary pallbearers were Fred Cox Sr. and Norman Luchterhand. The wives of pallbearers and honorary pallbearers had charge of the flowers.
