Winslow, John #2 (23 JUL 1882 - 6 OCT 1950)
(Owen Enterprise)
Jim Peterson of route one, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), who always went to the farm home of John Winslow every Friday night to bring him to town with him to do his weekly buying, last Friday evening (Oct. 6, 1950) found him sitting in his chair dead.
Peterson immediately notified Henry and Emil Sorenson, neighbors, who returned with him to the home and then called the authorities. They determined that he had been dead for about 12 hours and that death was due to a heart attack that occurred as he sat in his chair smoking his pipe, with one foot resting on the table top.
Funeral services were conducted from the Griebenow Funeral Home at 2 o’clock last Monday afternoon, with Dr. K. O. Crosby of St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church in Owen officiating. Burial was made in the Riverside Cemetery.
John Winslow was born in New London on July 23, 1882, and was 62 years of age at the time of his death. He had been a resident of this community for the past 20 years.
Surviving him are his wife, four sons, Lawrence, Louis, Robert and John, and two daughters, Mrs. Perry (Fern) Schultz and Mrs. Harry (Ernestine) Steffen.
