Ryan, Lucy #3 (19 OCT 1879 - 5 DEC 1950)
Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Ryan, 71, who died at her home at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 1950, after suffering a heart attack, were held at 9 a.m. Saturday.
The Rev. Fr. Norbert King officiated, with burial in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Raphael Haas, Lawrence Davel, Joe Esselman, Leo Degenhardt, William Theisen Sr., and Leonard Denk.
Mrs. Ryan, ne Lucy McGrath, was born on Oct. 19, 1879, at Waupun. She received her education in the schools of Waupun.
On June 8, 1897, she was married to John Ryan at Waupun and then moved to Randolph, where they lived until 1910. They lived at Cambria from 1910 to 1918, when they moved to a farm on the outskirts of Loyal, which has since been her home.
Her husband preceded her in death on Mar. 4, 1946. Mrs. Ryan was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
She is survived by 12 children, James Ryan and Mrs. Arthur (Margaret) Searvogel of Randolph, Mrs. Wilder (Isabel) Kennow of Wausau, Charles Ryan of Wauconda, Ill., William Ryan of Merrill, and Mrs. Tony (Grace) Klimmer, Mrs. Edward (Nellie) Searvogel, Mrs. Bernard (Rosetta) Beaver, Mrs. Henry (La Verne) Degenhardt and Henry, Gladys and Lawrence Ryan, all of Loyal. There are also 42 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, as well as one brother, Robert McGrath of Waupun, and two sisters, Mrs. Johanna Madigan of Beaver Dam and Mrs. Mary Sloper of Waupun. A brother preceded her in death.
Attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. James Ryan and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Searvogel and children, Mabel and Robert, of Randolph, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ryan and daughter, Bonnie, of Wauconda, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bowman of Alma Center, Mr. and Mrs. Wilder Kennow and family of Wausau, Robert McGrath, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schmidt and Mrs. Mary Sloper of Waupun, Mrs. Johanna Madigan of Beaver Dam, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pickett of Spencer, Edwin Degenhardt and Miss Betty Updycke of Greenwood, and Roman Degenhardt of Colby.
