Young, Viola #2 (12 DEC 1870 - 19 JAN 1951)
Mrs. C. H. young passed away at Monell Hospital, Lakeland, Fla., Jan. 19, 1951, following a week’s illness.
Mrs. Young, the former Vila Smith, was born at Dorchester (Clark Co.), Wis., on Dec. 12, 1870. She was married to Carol H. Young on Oct. 10, 1887. Of the twelve children born to them, eight survive, namely: Olive, Mrs. Walter Bardell, Highland City, Fla.; Flora, Mrs. Asa Slocumb, Ellendale, N.D.; Esther, Mrs. Harry Krause, and Mrs. Blanche Anderson, Lakeland, Fla.; Frank, Minneapolis, Minn.; John, Stanley; Coral, South Pasadena, Cal.; and Gideon of Pompano Beach, Fla. The husband, C. H. Young, also survived, as do twenty-five grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Young operated a farm in Clark County for many years, the farm originally homesteaded by Mr. Young’s father. In 1914, because of Mr. Young’s health, they moved to Lakeland, Fla., where they owned and operated the Orange Hotel for several years.
Early in life Mrs. Young became a member of the Free Methodist Church. She gave many years of faithful services and devotion to her church, and the Christ she loved.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 22, at the Free Methodist Church, Lakeland, Fla. Interment was made at Roselawn Cemetery.
