Colby, Mina May #2 (4 MAR 1892 - 4 MAR 1951)
Mrs. James Colby died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, on her fifty-ninth birthday anniversary, Sunday, March 4, 1951, her death being the result of a heart ailment.
Mrs. Colby, nee Mina May White, was born in the town of York (Clark Co., Wis.). The family moved to the township of Loyal when she was 2 years old, where she lived until her marriage to James R. Colby at her farm home, Oct. 29, 1912. She had lived in Loyal since her marriage.
Her education as received in the Lyons Rural School and the Loyal High School. She was a devoted member of the Methodist Church and active in the work of the Woman’s Society of Christian Service. She was Communion Steward of the church and Superintendent of the Home Department of the Sunday school. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America and the American Legion Auxiliary. Members of these societies attended the funeral services in a body.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Thursday p.m. at 2 o’clock. Burial was in the Loyal Cemetery.
The Rev. Lee Holmes officiated. The hymns, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Saved by Grace," were sung by Mrs. Calvin Prior and Mrs. G. W. Nelson, with Miss Donna Mae Gotter as organist.
The pallbearers were Lawrence Cowles, Albert Davel, Richard Gotter, Myrle Hales, Vernard Kauffman, and Jesse Raab.
Surviving Mrs. Colby are her husband and two children, James Richard, Greenwood, S.C., and Mrs. Albert (Virginia) Andersen, Loyal. Three grandchildren are also living. Other survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Norman (Eunice) Rogers, Great Falls, Mont.; Mrs. Hobert (Alice) Swieso, Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Walter (Effie) Swieso, Greenwood; and four brothers, Will White, Spokane, Wash.; Frank White, Chattaroy, Wash.; James White and Herbert White, Loyal. One brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

Colby, and Miss Gail Colby, Crystal Lake, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Swieso, Wilbert Swieso, Mr. and Mrs. Vernard Swieso, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Drake, and Mr. and Mrs. Merrill E. Dunn, Greenwood; Albert Schwartz, Medford; Edna Sackett, Rhinelander; Mr. and Mrs. Ora Warner and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Warner, Rib Lake; George White, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Dick Thiede, Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Purnell Thompson, Owen; Mrs. Thomas Schiro, Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hendrickson, town of Warner; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Haupt and daughter, and Mrs. John Kilty, Loyal, route 1.
