Chandler, Nellie (Injury - 1901)
Nellie Chandler the 11-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. V. W. Chandler, while bicycling last week Wednesday night, had a narrow escape from death by being run over by Charles Cumming on horseback. Both turned a corner at the same time and riding rapidly had no time to avoid each other, colliding in an instant. The horse was thrown completely over the wheel, trampling it and the unfortunate girl under foot and throwing Mr. Cumming a considerable distance. The wheel was badly smashed but the young lady miraculously escaped with only a few bruises. It was certainly a (words were missing).
