Carlson, John (23 Jul 1863 - 21 Sept 1913)
John Carlson died Sunday noon at his home on East 5th Street after an illness of three and a half days with pneumonia. He was born at Maristad, Sweden, on July 23, 1863. When he was 20 years of age he came to Clark County and settled in Pennsylvania. He worked there for a short time and then moved to Chicago. Here he met and married Emma Johnson on Aug. 1, 1886. In 1901 they came to Clark County and settled on a farm which they bought near Sydney. They lived at Sydney until last July, when they removed to this city to make their home, having sold their farm.
Mr. Carlson was a frugal and industrious man and has worked hard all his life. For some months he had been in poor health, and this, coupled with a cold caught while helping to build an addition to his house, brought on pneumonia. He is survived by his wife and niece, Louisa Carlson, two brothers in North Dakota, and a sister in Oregon.
Mr. Carlson was buried in the Neillsville Cemetery yesterday afternoon, services being held in the Congregational Church at 2:30 o’clock.
