Neillsville, Wisconsin (Whist Club - 1902)
The ladies’ Whist Club has been having, during the past winter, a series of most delightful bouts at their favorite game, meeting at the various homes of the members, and becoming so expert as players that, when their husbands finally received invitations to attend the last meet and see what they could do, they accepted, out of bravado, but expected that the ladies would make them look like a bunch of dead easies, when they came to play. But as it happened, the ladies were merciful and chose the gentlemen for their partners, so that the low average of the latter was not made conspicuous. The meeting was at the hospitable home of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schuster; Mrs. Lute Marsh and Mrs. J. F. Schuster and Miss Irma Schuster helping to entertain. The prizes were won by Mrs. S. F. (balance of article were missing).
