Dohm, Beverly Ann (Marriage - 27 Dec. 1958)

Miss Beverly Ann Dohm and R. Neal Melvin exchanged marriage vows, Saturday morning in St. Bernard’s Catholic church. The Rev. Raymond Schulz witnessed the double ring ceremony and read the nuptial Mass during which hymns were sung by St. Bernard’s choir at 10:00 o’clock.

Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. Vern Dohm and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Melvin, of Abbotsford.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a white gown of delustered peau-de-soie. Iridescent sequins and seed pearls on Venise lace trimmed the neckline which ended in a v in the back of the molded bodice. The panel in the front of the bouffant skirt, detailed with the lace trim, swept to a chapel train. A lace crown outlined with pearlized blossoms, held her finger tip veil of imported English silk illusion. She carried a crescent bouquet of white gladioli, stephanotis and red sweet heart roses, centered with a white orchid.

Attending the bride were three friends: Miss Jane Nick of Tomahawk, as maid of honor; Miss Donna Anderson of Abbotsford, and Mrs. Gene Fetzer of Medford. They wore identically styled ballerina length gowns of velveteen. The fitted bodice had a cuffed bateau neckline going to a v in the back. They had matching headpieces of braided tulle and velvet. Holly green was chosen by the maid of honor and red for the bridesmaids. They carried bouquets of white glads and red carnations and holly trim.

Elmer Schemenauer, Athens, was best man. Kenneth Storch and Gene Fetzler, Medford, were groomsmen. David Lindberg and Warren German performed the ushering duties.

Mrs. Dohm wore a black wool dress to her daughter’s wedding and Mrs. Melvin had a blue silk crepe dress. Red and white flowers were combined in their corsages.

A dinner for the bridal party and immediate family was served at noon at the Coffee Shop. A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents in the afternoon and supper was served at the high school at 5:00 o’clock for 175 guests.

In the evening, the new Mr. and Mrs. Melvin greeted guests at a wedding dance from 8:00 to 12:00 o’clock at Memorial hall, Dorchester. They left on a two weeks’ honeymoon in Florida.

Both young people are graduates of the Abbotsford high school. The bride has been employed by American Box Board at Wausau and the groom is employed by his father at the Melvin Ready Mix.

Guests at the wedding came from Minneapolis, Marshfield, Wausau, Milwaukee, Madison, Medford, Athens, Colby, Curtiss, and Tomahawk.
