Kanter, Herbert Peter (16 Mar. 1897 - 28 Feb. 1959)
Funeral services for Herbert Kanter, 61, who died of a heart attack at his home at Unity Thursday, were held Monday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Colby. Military rites were also conducted and burial was made in the Colby cemetery.
Mr. Kanter had operated a farm most of his life and for the past four years lived at Unity. He was employed for two years at the Streckert Manufacturing Company, here, as fireman. Last April, he suffered a heart attack and was unable to return to his work here.
He was born March 16, 1897 at Marshfield and received his education in the Colby schools. He and Ella Weller were married at Colby, Oct. 20, 1920. She survives him as does their son, Donald, Milwaukee. There are five grand children, two brothers and seven sisters.
Mr. Kanter was a veteran of World War I, past commander of the Unity American Legion and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
