Johnson, John (13 Feb. 1872 - 8 July 1959)
Knaack-Thompson Post No. 865 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, took part in the military funeral for John Johnson at Dorchester, Saturday, July 11.
Mr. Johnson served in the Spanish-American War with Co. L, 2nd Regt. He was one of seven Spanish veterans having membership in this post, and George Cook of Unity is now the only member of the group.
Veterans participating at the funeral were William O. Colby, Edwin Hoeft, Leo Apfelbeck, Ben Apfelbeck, Harvey Bitter, Lyle Johnson, Lyle Underwood, Arvin Kramer, Otto Hackel, Vern Dohm, James Nikolay, Art Nagel, Robert Boss, and Roy Lueschow.
First Lt. Robert Frautschy and a firing squad of the National Guards and Lynn Faivre, as bugler, took part.
The committee on funeral arrangements of the V.F.W. post wishes to thank all who assisted.
