Cross, David (11 Aug. 1940 - 14 Nov. 1959)
David Cross, 19 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Cross, of Colby, was killed Saturday, reportedly hit in the back by a stray bullet while hunting with his father in Florence county. The older Mr. Cross had gone to the family cottage to prepare food. Other hunters, who heard the young man’s cries for help, responded. He died shortly after.
David was born Aug. 11, 1940, in Oshkosh. He attended Colby grade and high schools and the University Extension at Wausau. He planned to return to Wausau the beginning of the next term, and was currently employed at the St. Croix Corporation at Park Falls.
He is survived by his parents, two sisters, Linda and Mary Jane, and a brother, John, all at home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Colby Methodist church and internment was made in the Colby cemetery.
