Abney, Margaret (Marriage - 23 Jan. 1960)

The marriage of Miss Margaret Abney and Charles Edward Detten took place Saturday, Jan. 23, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Texline, Tex. The Rev. Richard Meller officiated at the double ring ceremony.

Mr. Detten formerly lived here and worked in a youth program with a farmer’s group.

For her wedding, the bride wore a floor length gown of white satin designed on princess lines with a V-neckline and long sleeves, terminating in points outlined with pearls. A pearl tiara held her lace edged veil of French illusion. Her bouquet of white feathered chrysanthemums was centered with white orchids.

The bride’s three attendants were dressed alike in red velveteen gowns and they carried white fur muffs accented with red gardenias and silver leaves.

For a wedding trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico, the bride chose a sheath dress and wrist-length jacket of charcoal grey and white tweed. With it, she wore a white feather hat and black accessories and a corsage of white orchids.

The bride attended West Texas State college and is presently employed by Southwestern Public Service. The bridegroom, after leaving Abbotsford, was an exchange student in Great Britain in 1957 and 1958, and is presently attending Texas Technological college *** Note: The rest of the article was cut off and was not available at the time of transcription.
