Grambort, Walter Rheinhold (7 May 1906 - 1 June 1960)

Word was received of the death of Walter Grambort late Wednesday afternoon.

He was at work at the Grambort Christensen stock yards when he reported that he did not feel well, and went to his home. He died there a short while later.

Funeral services were held for Walter R. Grambort, who died at his home June 1 at 3 p.m. of a heart attack, were conducted Saturday at Christ Lutheran church in Abbotsford, with the Rev. F. H. Sprengler officiating. Burial was made in the Colby Memorial cemetery.

Pallbearers were Harold Christiansen, Norman Gosse, Norbert Novitzke, Don Nussberger, Les Brown and Ed Mildbrand. Honorary pallbearers were Junior Tesmer, Charles Miller, Noel Schelling, Fred Engelking and Alphonse Schraufnagel.

In charge of flowers were Betty Kremsreiter, Bonnie Leichtnam, Helen Novitzke, Adelaide Firnstahl, Gladys McCarron and Bernice Nacker.

Herbert Juneau sang "The Lord’s Prayer" at the services.

Walter Rheinhold Grambort was born Mar. 7, 1906, at Colby. He received his education at the Colby schools and then worked with his father, Fred Grambort as a cattle buyer. He was associated with the L. C. Christensen Co. in Abbotsford for the past 18 years.

He was married to Norma Ryder on Nov. 14, 1928, in Minneapolis and they have lived in Abbotsford for the past 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Ronald and James, a daughter, Darlene, and three grand children.

Five sisters, Malina Grambort, Mrs. E. W. (Antonia) Lidman of Chicago; Edna Grambort of San Francisco and Mrs. L. (Dorice) Guetschow, Stevens Point and five brothers, Edwin and Gilbert, Abbotsford; Fred, Chicago; Lt. Col. Everett Grambort, San Francisco and Hubert Grambort of Ashland, also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Grambort, a brother and sister, and a son, Gerald.
