Laper, Floyd (1909? - 8 July 1960)
Funeral services for Floyd Laper, 52, town of Unity, who was fatally wounded Friday morning in the village of Unity, were held Monday afternoon at the Lulloff Funeral Home at Colby, and burial was made in the Abbotsford cemetery. The Rev. Robert Langseth, pastor of Unity Trinity Lutheran church, officiated.
Mr. Laper, the father of seven children, was painting at the Fred Holubetz home at Unity and had stepped indoors for a drink of water when he was shot in the chest by a .32 caliber bullet fired from a revolver.
His 14 year old daughter, Shirley, at first told authorities she bumped into a work bench on which the revolver was lying, causing it to discharge. She later changed her story and said she had picked up the weapon and was returning it to the bench when it discharged.
The girl is expected to be questioned further this week in the juvenile branch of county court.
