Staples, Nellie M. (22 Oct. 1891 - 23 July 1960)

 

Funeral services for Miss Nellie M. Staples, 68, who died July 23, were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the Polnaszek Funeral Home. The Rev. Wallace Smith, pastor of the Presbyterian church, Edgar, was the officiating clergyman and Mrs. Smith was soloist with Miss Jackie Scheel playing the accompaniment.

 

Eastern Star rites followed and burial was made in the Colby cemetery. The ladies of the Abbotsford chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, of which the deceased was a member, were in charge of the flowers.

 

Pallbearers were R. H. Treat, Harry Emling, Hugo Bargenquast, Robert Hawks, Robert Kreklau and Ray Anderson.

 

Nellie Staples, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Staples, was born Oct. 22, 1891, in Canistota, South Dakota. She was educated at Markesan, Stevens Point and Milwaukee and taught rural schools at Markesan and the Abbotsford and Colby areas.

 

She came to Abbotsford in 1915.

 

Due to ill health, she recently sold her home in Abbotsford and entered the McDonald Nursing Home in Tomahawk, where she died Thursday afternoon.

 

Surviving are two brothers, Ray, of Tomahawk, and Guy, of Liberal, Kansas.

 

Her parents and a sister preceded her in death.
