Marcott, Adele (Marriage - 6 Aug. 1960)
Marriage vows were exchanged between Miss Adele Marcott and David E. Hawks Saturday afternoon, Aug. 6, in a ceremony performed at 3 o’clock by the groom’s brother-in-law, the Rev. William Schreffler, in Salem Evangelical United Brethren church at Dorchester.
Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. La Vern Marcott of Abbotsford and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Hawks of Curtiss.
For her wedding, the bride chose a floor length gown of deeply embroidered nylon organdy over taffeta. The molded bodice was cut to a V at the center of the waistline and featured a scalloped Sabrina neckline and dainty cap sleeves with matching gauntlets. The full, four tiered skirt of the embroidered nylon organdy over nylon faille taffeta fell into a brush train. An iridescent regal pearl crown with a delicate spray of rhinestones and pearls held her finger tip veil of imported English illusion. She carried a heart shaped bouquet of yellow roses, white pompons and stephanotis intermingled with ivy.
The bride, who was presented in marriage by her father, was attended by her sister, Miss Janice Marcott, as maid of honor. She wore a ballerina length dress of white nylon sheer over yellow taffeta, accented with a large green satin bow at the back. The skirt was detailed with an embroidered yeallow and green flowered border.
The groom’s niece, Miss Deanna Hawks of Marshfield, was flower girl. She wore a short white nylon dress with matching gloves.
Both of the attendants wore head bands with circular veils to match their dresses and carried fans with yellow carnations and white pompons on them.
The groom’s brother, Rodney Hawks, of Curtiss was best man. Fred Wilson and John Pflazgraf, both of Abbotsford, friends of the groom, were the ushers.
For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Marcott wore a beige lace dress with beige and mint accessories. Her corsage of yellow roses was tied with mint ribbon. A similar corsage, tied with blue ribbon, was worn by the groom’s mother, with the light blue dress she chose for the occasion. Her accessories were white.
About 150 guests attended the reception and 5 o’clock supper at the Abbotsford school gymnasium. They came from Milwaukee, Clintonville, Marshfield, Withee, Stanley, Curtiss, Dorchester, Loyal, Colby, Medford and Abbotsford.
The bride, a graduate of the Abbotsford high school, is employed at the office of Packaging Corporation of America at Colby. The groom, who attended the Dorchester high school, is employed by Medo-Farms Dairy at Abbotsford.
Following a two week wedding trip to Yellowstone Park and western states, the young couple will make their home in Abbotsford.
