Irvin Marcus, president of Colby Milling, Inc., suffered a fatal heart attack at his home in Colby Thursday morning.
Mr. Marcus, who was 54, was a member of Mount Sinai Temple, Wausau, the Colby Masonic lodge, a 32nd degree Mason of the Eau Claire consistory, a member of the Shrine of Madison and the Elk’s Lodge of Marshfield.
An Elk’s Lodge of Sorrow was held at the Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby, Sunday evening at 7 o’clock and Masonic rites were held there Monday morning at 10:30, after which the body was taken to Wausau.
Rabbi Matzner conducted services at the Helke Funeral Home at 2 o’clock. After the internment in Mount Sinai cemetery, Wausau, short services were conducted at the synagogue.
Pall bearers were Guy Dorazio and Sherman Loos, Colby; Shelley Walsh, Kenneth Miller, Irvin Solum and Robert White, all of Minneapolis.
Irvin Marcus was born at Medford May 31, 1906, and received his education there. He engaged in the feed manufacturing business during most of his career. He operated a feed mill and grocery business in Abbotsford and organized the Northwest Distributing Company and later Colby Milling Inc.
Following an explosion that destroyed the Colby plant on Dec. 31, 1959, the firm carried on operations at Abbotsford.
He is survived by his widow, step daughter, Mrs. Robert Koontz, Thorp; and three grand children. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Bootzin, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Marcella Lindenbaum, Tucson, Ariz.
A sister, Mildred Marcus, preceded him in death.
