Funeral services for Richard Bowen, 54, of Curtiss, who died Tuesday afternoon, were held Saturday morning at Holy Rosary Catholic church at Owen. The Rev. H. Crubel officiated at the requiem mass at 9 o’clock.
His death was due to a self-inflicted shot from a .22 calibre rifle according to Clark county coroner Robert Lulloff, following a two-day investigation and a consultation with the Wisconsin state crime laboratory.
The fatally injured mand was discovered at his home by his wife and a son, Richard, 17, returning from Owen. He was rushed to St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield where he died a few hours later.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Barbara Janikowski, Antigo, and five other children at home, Richard, 17, Margaret, 16, Betty Jo, 13, Marilyn, 9 and John, 1.
He was a veteran of World War II and since his return, was employed as a fireman at Western Condensing plant in Owen.
