Neillsville, Wisconsin (Lighting Contest - 1958)
Mrs. Sadie Haight won first place, and a $15 prize, in the 1958 Junior Chamber of Commerce Christmas decorating and lighting contest. Mr. and Mrs. George Prochazka were awarded second place and a $10 prize; and Mr. and Mrs. Armand Wachholz received a $5 award.
Mrs. Haight brightened her yard and residence with Christmas color, with Santa Claus, reindeer, and the spirit of Christmas. Prochazkas used Santa Claus, reindeer and other Christmas arrangements. Mr. and Mrs. Armand Wachholz at 813 East Division Street had Santa on the front porch ready to enter the front door. Other Christmas decorations and lighting were worked into the project.
The judging committee stated there were 10 entrants. They noted that there were several homes in Neillsville that had excellent arrangements who did not register for the contest.
