Underwood, Lyle (25 SEP 1949 - 12 SEP 2010)
Lyle Underwood, 60, of Chili, found peace Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010,
surrounded by his family.
Lyle was born Sept. 25, 1949, in Clark County. He graduated from
Colby High School in 1967 and served in the U.S. Navy during
Vietnam. He married Judith Mueller on May 28, 1971, in
Minnesota.
After the Navy, Lyle worked as an electrician at Marshfield Homes
before moving to Chicago in 1973 to become a service technician for
Cushing Technical, working on industrial equipment. He then moved
back to Marshfield in 1976 to become OEM sales manager for LTI
Corporation until 1981, when he started his own company as a
distributor of gluing equipment and industrial products. In 2001,
he sold his company to his son and created a new entity where he
designed and built industrial equipment while continuing to help
his son with technical services.
Lyle was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting, fishing and
riding his tractor. He always looked forward to fall and enjoyed
watching Packers games. He was the "go-to guy" for many people,
always willing to lend a hand, but, most of all, he enjoyed
spending time with his family and friends.
Lyle will be dearly missed by his wife, Judy; his son, Brandon
(Susan); his daughter, Alison (Robert) Griesbach; grandchildren,
Abby and Luca Underwood; and his dog, Fawn (aka Butthead).
He is also survived by his sister, Barbara (Roger) Schuh; brother,
LeRoy (Judy) Underwood; his mother-in-law, Marie Mueller; and
numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts,
uncles, cousins and many, many friends.
He was predeceased by his mother, Mae Harder; his stepfather, Norb
Harder; his father, Elvin Underwood; and his nephew Brian
Underwood.
The family would like to thank Edgewater Nursing home and Ministry
Hospice for their compassionate care.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Wildwood Park
Pavilion on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010. Visitation will be from 10:30
a.m. until 11 a.m., with service at 11 a.m. and a lunch/gathering
to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations are made to the DAV
or the American Cancer Society in Lyle's name.
