The annual meeting will be held at the Zion United Church of Christ Sunday at 2 p.m. Election of officers will be held. Elder candidates are: Laverne Brown and Paul Acker; deacon candidates are: Adolph Wessel, Harold Horn, Edward Karpinski and George Hoehne.. Reports from the various organizations will be heard.
Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Vinger attended the funeral of her nephew, Gordon Severson, held at Whitewater Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Plautz have received word informing them of the birth of a son December 31 to their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Plautz of Milwaukee. The mother is the former Beverly Checky, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Checky, formerly of Greenwood.
The circles of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will meet today (Thursday). The circles which meet in the afternoon are the Naomi circle, at the Mrs. Amy Hendrickson home; and the Esther circle, at the Godfrey Dyre home. The Dorcas circle will meet in the evening at the home of Mrs. Robert Engelbretson.
Mrs. Frank Smaldone will entertain the Suffragette Club at her home this (Thursday) Afternoon.
The Women’s guild will meet at the Zion-United Church of Christ this (Thursday) afternoon. Hostesses will be Mrs. Robert Schneider and Mrs. George Braun. Rev. Orval Egbert will have charge of the lesson.
The Ladies Bible study group of the Greenwood Gospel Mission church will meet this (Thursday) afternoon at the home of Mrs. Dave Thwing.
Mrs. Lawrence Cox will entertain member of the Birthday Club January 12.
The Altar guild of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will meet Monday evening at the Cecil Lombard home.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Swieso spent from Wednesday until Friday at the Leonard Thiede home in Granton.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Severson and Carol were Friday dinner guests at the Ernest Molle home in Unity.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Stewart were Sunday dinner guests of her sister, Mrs. Orv Matzke, at Wausau.
The ninth birthday of Ray Toburen was celebrated Sunday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Toburen. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Toburen and Delmain, Mr. and Mrs. George Humke and Paul, Mrs. Ida Horn, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Horn and family and Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Humke and Dennis.
Arthur Syth spent New Year’s Day at Wausau with his daughter, Mrs. Bernard Cunningham, and her family.
New Year’s Eve supper guests at the Clarence Verhulst home were her sister, Mrs. Lester Luther, and family of Eau Claire. The Luther’s were enroute home after attending the funeral of his grandmother, Mrs. Kate Cornwell, at Neillsville that day.
Miss Martha Horn entertained relatives at her home New Year’s Day. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Kraut and daughters, Beverly and Bunce of Curtiss, Mrs. Ida Horn, the Glenn Horn family, the Harold Horn family and Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Wessel and sons, and William Horn.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dunn and daughter, Sharon of Eau Claire, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Voie, were New Year’s Day guests at the Godfrey Dyre home.
