Washburn Area (January - 1959)

 

The Washburn P. T. A. will meet in the recreation room of the school tonight (Thursday) at 8:15 p.m.. A film, "Trip Around the World," will be shown.

 

Mrs. Raymond Smith will entertain the Washburn Homemakers Club Wednesday, January 14.  A potluck dinner will be served at noon.  Mrs. Ralph Short and Mrs. Henry Hubing will present the topic, "Preparing Surfaces for Redecorating."

 

Mildred, Wendell and Diane Kuhn, children of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kuhn, underwent tonsillectomies at Memorial Hospital last week Wednesday.

 

The Spiegel brothers have sold one of their milk routes to Darrell Raine.

 

Mrs. Frank Short returned home Saturday after a two-week visit with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Louie Matousek and son, Roger Short, and family in Milwaukee.  Mr. and Mrs. Matousek brought her home Saturday, returning Sunday.

 

The Washburn Farmers Union local will meet at the Kurt Janisch home Wednesday evening, January 14.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Krause and daughter, Cheryl, Milwaukee, spent from New Year’s night until Sunday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irving Stevens and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Krause.

 

Mrs. Ole Skretteberg returned to her teaching duties at Joliet, Ill. Sunday after spending two weeks with her husband.

 

Arnold Trachte, who attends Central State Teachers College, Stevens Point, and Arlene Trachte, who attends Teachers college at Wisconsin Rapids, returned to their studies Sunday after spending the vacation with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Trachte.

 

(Missing a few words); Jerry Zank, who spent until Friday at the Oliver Williams home.  Mr. and Mrs. Albert Zank and Mrs. Art Williams came after them Friday afternoon and were supper guests at the Williams home. They also called at the Frank Zank home.

 

Jean Williams and Alberta and Jerry Zank called at the Carl Krause home Wednesday evening.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kapfer and daughter, West Bend, and Mrs. William Poler called at the Ernest Backhaus home Saturday afternoon and were supper guests at the Oliver Williams home.
