Bjelland, Albert (17 November 1881 - 10 January 1959)

 

Albert Bjelland, 77, Neillsville, died Saturday following an extended illness.  Funeral services were conducted Tuesday from the Congregational Church, and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Rev. Frank B. Harcey officiated.

 

Mr. Bjelland was born Nov. 17, 1881, in Norway, Iowa.  At the age of two years his parents moved to Jerauld County, South Dakota, where he spent his youth and received his education.  At the age of 24, he took up a homestead near Lehr, North Dakota.

 

In 1907 he was married to Clara Storla.  In 1910 they moved to Oregon, where they operated a fruit ranch until the death of his wife in 1922 when he returned to North Dakota to live with his sister.

 

On February 16, 1924, he was married to the former Selma Stehr in Lamore, North Dakota.  Following their marriage he returned to Wisconsin and operated a farm near Taylor and Hixton.  In 1936 they rented their farm and resided with a daughter in Minnesota for a year, after which they returned to the farm.  In 1945 they sold their farm and moved to Neillsville, where they had since resided.

 

He was a member of the Congregational Church.

 

He is survived by two children: Mrs. Frank (Alta) Roth, St. Louis, Mo., and Dr. Dale Bjelland, Inglewood, Cal. and the following step-children: Harry Palm, Merrillan; Arthur M. Palm, Roscal, Ill.; Dell Palm, Kulm, N.D.; Mrs. James (Florence) Reynolds, Minneapolis, Minn.; and Mrs. Leo (Violet) Cardinal, Merrillan.  A sister, Mrs. August Bellon of Lansing, Mich., and two brothers, Ole Bjelland, Whitehall, and Casper Bjelland of Milwaukee, also survive as do five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

 

The Georgas Funeral Home made funeral arrangements.

 

Pallbearers were: Arnold Gustman, Fred Stelloh, Arthur Wilding, Jess Scott, Newton Toptine, and A. F. Flynn.

 

"In The Garden" and "Rock of Ages", were sung by Mrs. B. H. Crissinger and Mrs. Robert D. Peters, accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

 

Out of town people here for the services were: Mrs. Alta Roth, Mrs. Florence Paintor, St. Louis, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Leo J. Cardinal and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Palm, Hatfield; Dell Palm, Kulm, N. D.; Mr. and Mrs. James Reynolds, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur W. Palm, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Palm and son, Roscoe; Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Orin Koxlien, Taylor; Casper Bjelland and Mrs. Emil Nordhus, Milwaukee; Agnes Haulson, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilkins, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Glander, Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. V. Eggen, all of Black River Falls; Phillip Schultz, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Teeples, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Chap, Hatfield.
