Johnson, Ira Dean (29 June 1896 - 7 January 1959)

 

Funeral services were conducted Monday for Ira Dean Johnson, 62, of Long Beach, Cal., who died Wednesday at a Veterans Hospital. The Rev. Jack Burt officiated at services in the Methodist Church in Humbird.  Burial was made in the Town of Mentor Cemetery.

 

Mr. Johnson was born June 29, 1896, at Humbird, son of the late Henry and Caroline (Presher) Johnson, and for the last 40 years had resided in California. The last year and one-half was spent in a Veterans Hospital.  He was married in September 1927.

 

He is survived by a son, Carl, of Turlock, Cal., and three sisters, Mrs. John (Vesta) Erickson, Loyal; Mrs. Ivan (Dorothy) Putman, Janesville; Mrs. Herbert (Ruth) Phillipps, Janesville.  An uncle, Cole Johnson of Humbird, and two grandchildren also survive.

 

The Georgas Funeral Home made funeral arrangements.

 

Pallbearers were: Robert Radke, Ray Hansen, John Premus, Joe Putman, Willard Putman, and Louie Fitzmaurice.

 

Harold Losey, accompanied by Mrs. Losey, sang "In the Garden" and "God’s Tomorrow".

 

People from away here for the services were: Mr. and Mrs. John Erickson, Loyal; Mrs. Laura Baumgartner, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Durham, and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence McKivett, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Phillipps,  Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Putman, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Radke, and Mrs. Ronald Schlinsog and family, all of Janesville.
