Larson, Vernon Floyd (18 May 1926 - 18 September 2010)
Vernon Larson, 84, of Neillsville, formerly of Beloit, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at the Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.
Vernon Floyd Larson was born May 18, 1926, in Garden Valley Township, at Alma Center, the son of Willy and Rose (Wernberg) Larson. He attended and graduated from Alma Center High School and then worked as an auto mechanic in Neillsville. Nov. 18, 1950 Vern was united in marriage to Viola Bryan in Alma Center. For 37 years, Vernon worked as a skilled machinist at the Fairbanks Morse Engine Coltec Industries factory in Beloit.
Vern was known for his love and collection of ’49 Mercury’s and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Viola; a son, Stack (Lori) Larson of Hudson; two granddaughters, Lacey Larson and Lilly Larson; and three brothers, Kenneth (Wava) Larson of Alma Center, Rueben (Marlene) Larson of Fullerton, CA, and Virgil (Shelby) Larson of Oak Dale, MN.
He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel; a brother, Merlin; his parents; and his stepfather, Roland Lundberg.
Funeral services for Vernon will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Douglas Bjerke will officiate. Interment will be in the Dells Dam Cemetery in Levis Township, Clark County. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday at the Gesche Funeral Home.
Casketbearers are: Kenneth, Rueben and Virgil Larson; Bryan Ferraro, Jesse Ferraro and Matt Wendtland.
