Washburn Township (5 March 1959)

The Washburn P. T. A. will meet in the school Thursday evening, March 12, at 8:15 p.m.  A kitchen shower will be held at this meeting.  Mrs. Robert Mortenson and Mrs. Leonard Hetzel have a list of the articles needed, so anyone wanting to donate something should call one of them.  Lunch will be served after the meeting.

The Washburn P. T. A. will sponsor a food sale at Russell’s Store Saturday, March 14. Sale will start at 10 a.m.  Anyone wishing to donate food will be appreciated.

Ralph Short got a telephone call from Janesville Thursday telling of the death of a very good friend, Mrs. Carl Regenberg, Sr., 81, Thursday morning. She was an aunt of Mrs. Ida Ottow, Mr. and Mrs. Regenberg lived in this vicinity many years ago.

Mrs. Elmer Kapfer will entertain the Birthday club Thursday afternoon.

Mrs. Henry Hubing of Neillsville was hostess to the Washburn Homemakers club last week Thursday, with 11 members and five visitors in attendance.  Mrs. Irving Stevens and Mrs. Floyd Wall presented the topic, "Cleaning Rugs and Upholstery."  Mrs. George Allbaugh will be hostess at the next meeting, March 11.  Dinner will be served at noon.  Mrs. Arnold Huth, Jr., and Mrs. George Allbaugh will be project leaders on, "Understanding School Government."

Paul Kuhn visited his brother, Emil, at Bethel Nursing Home Thursday in honor of his 83^rd birthday, which was Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer drove to Eau Claire Wednesday after repairs for the motor patrol and snowplow.  They got it repaired and started plowing out the roads again Sunday.

Mrs. Frank Short visited Saturday night and Sunday with her son, Kenneth and his family.

Kenneth Lindow, student at Northwestern Bible School, Minneapolis, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lindow.

Mrs. Carl Franklyn and son were Sunday dinner and supper guests at the Chris Feutz home.

Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Huth, Sr., and Mrs. Ralph Short attended a special homemaker’s project meeting in Neillsville, last week Tuesday.

Mrs. Ida Ottow was a dinner and supper guest at the Irving Stevens home Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Spiegel and family were visitors at the Alf Spiegel home Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Urban, Jim Vincent, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Junchen, and Mr. and Mrs. William Rizner attended the fishing contest at Fairchild Lake Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. George Allbaugh and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kuhn and sons were Sunday dinner guests at the Paul Kuhn home.

Mr. and Mrs. William Tullis visited the Ralph Short home last Thursday night.

Mr. and Mrs. Irving Stevens were Sunday dinner guests at the Jim Vincent home and also visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Winters, in the afternoon.

Mrs. Carl Franklyn and son accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Christ Feutz to Neillsville Thursday and were supper guests at the Feutz home.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Syth and son, Eau Claire, and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dahnert spent Sunday afternoon at the John Reinart home.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Reinart and family and Mr. and Mrs. George Reinart and family, Tomah, spent the weekend at the Henry Hubing, Clarence and John Reinart homes.
