Bloomfield, John (26 May 1880 - 1 April 1959)

John Bloomfield, 78, of Loyal, died at a hospital in Owen at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, of coronary Thrombosis.

Mr. Bloomfield, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hammond Bloomfield, was born in Strongs Prairie May 26, 1880.  He was married to Jennie Long at Hancock, March 29, 1906.  In 1938 the family moved onto a farm north of Loyal, and in 1947 they moved into the city.

He served for 20 years as chairman of the Town of Monroe, in Adams County.  He was a member of the Methodist Church.  His wife died December 1957.

Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Van Wie of Eagle River; a son, George, and three grandchildren, Sandra, John and Joan of Loyal; and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Snow of Madison, and Mrs. Omar Fry of Necedah.

Funeral services were held from the Loyal Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Alfred Attwood officiating.  Burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Earl Worden, Wesley Worden, James Morrow, John Castner, H. E. Catlin and Ray Vogel.

The hymns, "In the Garden," and "What a Friend we Have in Jesus," were sung by James Colby, with Mrs. Byron Zepplin as organist.
