Davel, Charles (17 JUNE 1877 - 21 March 1949)
Charles Frederick Davel, 71, died early Monday morning, Feb. 21, at his home in Loyal, after an illness of a few weeks. His death was the result of a heart attack.
"Charley" Davel was born on June 17, 1877, at Two Rivers. He moved with his parents, to Spencer in 1884. There he received his education. He came to Loyal 48 years ago. His marriage to Anna Christensen of Loyal occurred in Neillsville on Sept. 2, 1903. Mr. Davel worked in a sawmill in Loyal at one time. Later he had a dairy route. For the past 25 years he had an ice business and for several years managed the Loyal skating pond.
Surviving , besides his wife, are two children, Harold J. Davel of Waukesha and Mrs. Herbert (Anita) Fenner of Loyal; three brothers, Albert Davel of Loyal, John Davel of Spencer and George Davel of Stratford; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. One brother, Joseph, preceded him in death.
The body which had been lying in stste at the Loyal funeral home, was taken to the Loyal Methodist church at noon last Thursday, and funeral services were held that afternoon at 2 o’clock. Burial was in the Loyal cemetery.
The hymns, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Sweet By and By," were sung by Mrs. Calvin Prior and Mrs. Ray Prior, with Miss Donna Mae Gotter as accompanist.
Six nephews, Lawrence, William, Paul, Bernard, Alex and Reuben Davel, served as pallbearers. In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Katherine Davel, Mrs. Gertrude Davel, Mrs. Margaret Fiegel and Mrs. Mildred Misuraca.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Harold J. Davel of Waukesha, Mr. and Mrs. George Davel and Reuben Davel of Stratford, Mr. and Mrs. John Davel of Spencer, Mrs. Mildred Misuraca of Milwaukee, Mrs. Margaret Fiegewl and children and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Trittin of Omro, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Davel of Stevens Point, Albert Wagner of Edgar, Mrs. Martha Starr of St. Paul, Roy Marsh of Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. John Olsen of Neillsville and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Christiansen, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Christiansen, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Cole, Forest Cole, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hansen and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Christionsen, all of Marshfield.
The Tribune extends to the survivors its sympathy in their loss.
