American Legion Auxiliary (30 April 1959)
At the meeting of the American Legion auxiliary Monday even ing it was decided to sponsor the annual Poppy poster contest. Mrs. Leona Syth and Miss Louise Keiner were appointed on the poster committee.
The upper grades in the Greenwood Public School and the St. Mary’s Catholic School will be invited to participate. Prizes of $1, 75 cents, and 50 cents will be awarded in each school. The 10 best posters from each school are to be brought to the home of Mrs. Hazel Brown by May 15 and will be judged May 18.
Mrs. Hazel Brown was appointed Badger Girls State chairman.
It was reported $66 has been received to date from the food sale held recently. The proceeds will be used to purchase flags for the Legion.
Carol Severson made tray favors for May. Louise Keiner will make them for the month of June. Mrs. William Olson will pay the expenses.
After the business session games were played and prizes were awarded to Mrs. John Vessel, Mrs. Leona Syth, Mrs. Hazel Brown and Mrs. Christ Keiner. Lunch was served by Mrs. Frances Hinker, Mrs. Ervin Grap, Mrs. Harry Gordee, and Mrs. Charles Hare.
