Pleasant Ridge (30 April 1959)

 

David Eisentraut is the owner of a 13-month-old filly, recently purchased from William Cook.  This horse replaces "Lucky" who was killed last Thanksgiving Day when struck by a car near the fairgrounds.

 

The Pleasant Ridge Homemakers were entertained Thursday at the home of Mrs. Gordon Vine.  Project leader, Mrs. Harold Huckstead, gave a report on civil defense.

 

Lewis Scholtz of Neillsville has been helping Raymond Zipfel with seeding.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Reynold Syth and children, and his mother, Mrs. Jack Syth, Greenwood, visited Sunday with the Glenn Short family.

 

Mrs. Jim Hauge and children of Neillsville were Saturday overnight guests of Mrs. Robert Kunze and family.

 

Mrs. Arthur Hubing and Mrs. Lewis Scholtz drove Tuesday to Black River Falls and spent the day with Mrs. Hubing’s daughter, Mrs. Larry Babka.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Scholtz, Neillsville, were Sunday visitors at the Art Hubing home.  Other callers were Mr. and Mrs. Truman Davis and son of Granton, and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Babka of Black River Falls.

 

Arne Eisentraut, Rockford, Ill., is spending this week with his wife and daughter at the Rex Krejci home in Neillsville, and with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Eisentraut.

 

Mrs. Chester Johnson of Pine Valley visited Thursday with her mother, Mrs. Bessie Spangler.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lindekugel presented their son, Wayne Harold, for baptism Wednesday evening at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran parsonage with the Rev. Norman Lindloff officiating.  Mr. and Mrs. Walter Trachte were sponsors.

 

Mrs. James Horswill entertained at a party April 22; Mrs. Clarion Counsell, Mrs. Cliff Blackman, Mrs. Roy Suckow, Mrs. Calvin Gerhardt, of Grant; Mrs. E. L. Moberg, Greenwood; and Mrs. Charles Klapatauskas, of Willard.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Maurice May and son, Bradley, of Milwaukee, visited last weekend with Mrs. Otto May in Neillsville and Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Opelt in Hewett.

 

Wm. H. Yenni made a quick trip to Ashland Thursday to see whether the smelt were running.  They were not, but he brought back 25 to 30 pounds of smelt.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ziegler of Marion visited last weekend at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Russel Vandeberg and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stoll.
