Hawley, Dale (3 OCT 1898 - 15 SEP 1951)
Funeral services for Dale John Hawley, 52, Marshfield, who died Saturday morning in the Veterans Hospital at Wood, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the First Methodist Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Robert Trobaugh officiated and burial was made in Hillside Cemetery.
Mr. Hawley was born Oct. 3, 1898, in Stockbridge. He received his education in the Greenwood schools and prior to moving to Marshfield five years ago had been engaged in farming near Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.). He was wounded in World War I, and had been in poor health since that time.
His marriage to the former Lillian Kurtzheim took place Jan. 9, 1922, in Eau Claire and he was a member of the Badger Purple Heart organization. He entered Wood Hospital Jan. 18, 1949.
He is survived by his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Nyle (Lois Mae) Tompkins, Greenwood; Mrs. Marvin (June) Matowitz, Marshfield; Mrs. Anthony (Dawn) Schlagenhaft, Loyal; Miss Sue Ann, Milwaukee; and Dorene, at home; five sons, Jack, Wausau; James, Milwaukee, and Thomas, Roger and Dale, at home; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ernest Hannah, Mineral Point; and Mrs. Cyril Neverman, Joliet, Ill.; and his mother, Mrs. John Hawley, Greenwood.
One brother preceded him in death.
