Holmes, Alice #2 (9 JUL 1873 - 26 DEC 1951)

 

Mrs. Alice Holmes, 78, of Unity, Wis., died Wednesday morning at 12:30 a.m., at the home of her son, Rev. Lee Holmes, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.).  Her death was attributed to cancer.

 

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Unity Methodist Church, Unity, Wis., the Rev. Fred J. Smith will officiate.

 

Alice Myrtle Holmes was born July 9, 1873 in Minnesota.  In 1897 she was married to Henry Holmes in a ceremony which took place at Unity.  She lived most of her life in Clark County and for some time taught in various county schools.

 

Upon the death of her husband in 1938, she moved to Unity where she resided since.

 

Survivors include two sons, Chaplain Peter Holmes, San Pedro, Calif., and Rev. Lee Holmes, Loyal, and three daughters, Mrs. Herman (Eunice) Blair, Colby; Mrs. Harvey (Myrtle) Meacham, Colby, and Mrs. Roscoe (Alice) Meacham, Spencer, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
