Leichtnam, Ruth B. (31 MAR 1915 - 8 OCT 2010)
Ruth Bernice Leichtnam, 95, formerly of Abbotsford, passed away Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at Hilltop on Pepper Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at the First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. The Rev. Marcia Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in the Abbotsford Municipal Cemetery.
Ruth was born March 31, 1915, in Marshall County, Iowa, to Walter and Edith (Lowry) Billman. She moved with her family to Wisconsin in 1920. She married Arthur E. Leichtnam in Abbotsford on Oct. 11, 1933. He died Dec. 30, 1989.
She was a homemaker and worked at various jobs, most notably as a cook for the Abbotsford School District and as a cheese cutter for Hawkeye Dairy, throughout her life.
She is survived by her youngest son Bill (Nancy) Leichtnam of Nekoosa; daughter-in-law Rosemary Leichtnam of Grand Blanc, Mich.; five grandchildren, Jane (Tim) Jones of Marble Falls, Texas, Ed (Dawn) Leichtnam of Gaylord, Mich., Margaret McLaughlin of Grand Blanc, Mich.; Dan (Tammy) Leichtnam of Clarkston Mich.; and Joanie (Gordon) John of Waterford, Mich.; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Robert; an infant daughter, Patsy; and five brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the church. Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home of Nekoosa is assisting the family. The family will establish a memorial at a later date.
