Korneszuk, Eugene L. (23 AUG 1934 - 26 DEC 1955)

 

Eugene L. Kornesczuk, 21, died instantly in an auto accident which occurred on Highway 64 west of Gilman on Monday, Dec. 26th, 1955.

 

He had been home for the holidays on furlough from the U.S. Army.

 

The deceased was born in Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis., on Aug. 23, 1934, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kornesczuk, now residing in Gilman.

 

He leaves to mourn his untimely death, his parents, five brothers, Casey of Chicago, and Tony, Tommy, Johnny and Michael at home; eight sisters, Frances Kenney, Tacoma, Wash., Amy Bayer, Chicago, Vicki Kornesczuk, Tacoma, Wash., Theresa Olson, Oconomowoc, Wis., Delores, Maryann, Geraldine and Bernadine at home.

 

The deceased was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Catholic Order of Foresters.  He was stationed in Army service at Fort Lewis, Wash. with the 2nd Engineer Division, Co. C.  He had graduated recently from NCO school and was promoted to Platoon Sergeant.

 

Funeral services were held at St. Peter & Paul Church at Gilman at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, Rev. Father John Dzurko officiating, and interment following in the Meadowbrook Cemetery.  Military services were conducted by the Gilman American Legion Post members.  Pallbearers were Charles Webster, Bruce Dietzler, Victor Laska, Loren Goshaw, Don Quimett and Eddie Gable.

 

Out of town relatives attending the funeral were: Mrs. Anton Laska, Victor Laska, Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Bayer, Mr. and Mrs. Casey Kornesczuk, Mrs. Andy Bork and children, all of Chicago; Vicki Kornesczuk of Tacoma, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Olson of Oconomowoc, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kopacz, Jr., Theresa Grabowski, Amy Grabowski, all of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Wally Kryzynowski and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Grabowski of Thorp.

 

Out of town friends present were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kopacz, Sr. and family of Sheldon;, Misses Irene Miobelini, Carol Wicheski, Clem Stokosa of Chicago; Mrs. Henry Buyalski and Clarke of Wis. Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Felix Lato, Mrs. Ray Koaczkowski, Frank Siorczuk of Thorp, and Ray Ketterhagen of Chippewa Falls.
