Lavey, Joan (Marriage - 20 June 1959)
The Rev. Virgil Holmes, pastor of the Neillsville Methodist Church, performed the wedding ceremony Saturday evening in York Center Methodist Church, which united in marriage Miss Joan Lavey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Lavey, Rt. 1, Neillsville, and John S. Buchanan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daro Buchanan, Nekoosa.
The double ring ceremony was performed before an altar decorated with baskets of peonies, roses, orange blossoms and white candelabra.
The bride was attired in a white taffeta faille ballerina-length gown, with overskirts of nylon net and silk organza. She carried a bridal bouquet of red and white roses.
Mrs. Rolland Aubey, Port Edwards, was her matron of honor, and Mr. Aubey attended the groom as bestman.
David Lavey was vocalist. He was accompanied by Miss Ruth Garbisch.
A reception was held at the York Town Hall and at the home of the bride.
The former Miss Lavey is a graduate of the Loyal High School and Wood County Teachers College. She has employment as records clerk in a paper mill in Nekoosa. Her husband was graduated from Alexandria High School and the University of Wisconsin, and is a chemical engineer at the paper mill.
Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan are residing at 131 Ver Bunker Ave., Port Edwards.
