Storm Damages (8 July 1959)

A yearling heifer at the Arvid and Emil Watenpuhl farm was killed by lightning last week Wednesday afternoon at their farm in Pine Valley.  The lightning apparently followed the metal water pipe and stanchion.

When Mrs. Clarence Meinhardt of Eaton heard a hissing sound in the wall of her home, she investigated and found a wall lamp, in the upstairs bedroom, afire.  It was during the electrical storm the same afternoon that the lightning followed the wires into the house.  Mr. Meinhardt use a fire extinguisher to put out the blaze.
