Ostenson, Melvin Edward (28 September 1890 - 18 July 1959)
Funeral services were held in Colby Tuesday afternoon for Melvin Edward Ostenson, 68, who was found dead in the barn on his farm one and one-half miles east of Curtiss late Saturday.
Sheriff Frank Dobes said he had taken his own life.
The body was found by Ostenson’s daughter, Ethel, and two nieces, Gale and Gloria Goodspeed of Jackson, O., when they returned to the farm after visiting other relatives.
The Rev. Orval Egbert of Greenwood conducted the services, and burial was made in the Pine Hill Cemetery at Curtiss.
Mr. Ostenson was born September 28, 1890, in the Town of Mayville, and resided on a farm there throughout his life. He was married in 1915 to the former Tena Gosse.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Adelaide Goodspeed of Jackson, O., and Ethel, at home; a son, Roy of Bloomer, a brother, Roy of Curtiss; four sisters, Edna and Christine Ostenson and Mrs. Carla Lein, all of Curtiss, and Mrs. Ella Moen, Cottage Grove, Ore. and five grandchildren.
