Milewski, Walter (8 SEP 1873 - 23 MAR 1956)

Funeral services were conducted by Father C. Chilicki at St. Hedwig’s Chapel in the city at 9:00 o’clock Monday morning for Walter Milewski who passed away of old age infirmities at the Victory Memorial Hospital at Stanley on Friday, March 23^rd, 1956.  He had reached the age of 82 years, 6 months and 15 days.

The deceased was born in Poland on Sept. 8, 1873.  He came to this country at an early age and was united in marriage to Stella Urbanska in Pennsylvania on Jan. 22, 1894.

He and his wife came to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) over fifty years ago and operated a farm north of the village for several years, later moving to the town of Hixon where they resided until about eight years ago, when they came to make their home in the city of Thorp.

Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, Leon and Mike of Thorp and Bill of Fontana, Calif., six daughters, Mrs. Pearl Bednarski, and Frances, Mrs. Frank Golembiaski of Detroit, Mich., Sophie, Mrs. Frank Rubisch, Vassar, Mich., Anne, Mrs. John Giwojna, Marie, Mrs. Art Kenney and Bernice, Mrs. Peter Salvack, of Thorp, one sister, Julianne Poplaska in Pennsylvania, 24 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Interment took place in St. Hedwig’s New Cemetery.  Grandsons of the deceased served as pallbearers, Bob Rubisch, Leonard Milewski, Norbert Milewski, Ronald Milewski, Tony Bednarski and Junior Bednarski.

Out of town relatives and friends attending were Mr. William Milewski of Fontana, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Golembiaski, Mrs. Pearl Bednarski and son Anthony, Mrs. Max Bednarski and son Junior, all of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Frank Rubisch, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rubisch and son of Vassar, Mich., Mrs. Stanley Milewski and Mrs. Anthony Fontana of Chicago, Ill., Mr. Leonard Milewski of Rolling Meadows, Ill., Mr. Norbert Milewski, Mrs. Edward Strzok and daughter of Palatine, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Joe Milewski of Withee, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Gay, Mrs. Carl Gay and Mrs. Caroline Teclaw of Owen.
