Witkus, Peter P. (29 JUN 1884 - 1 APR 1956)
Peter P. Witkus, 71, of the Town of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away at the hospital at Stanley on Sunday, April 1st, 1956, after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held at the Plombon Funeral Home at Stanley at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Harold Miller officiating and burial being made in the Junction Cemetery.
The deceased was born in Poland on June 29, 1884, coming to this country at the age of 17 years. He lived in Chicago for a time and then moved to the Junction, north of Stanley, where he married Anne Ponick on Oct. 22, 1912. They lived on a farm since that time.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, Steve of Thorp, Louis of South Milwaukee, and Alex of Aurora, Minn.; five daughters, Mrs. Verna Olejniczak and Victoria, Mrs. Alex Luzinski of Thorp, Julia, Mrs. Norbert Johnson of South Milwaukee, Leona, Mrs. Edward Hazuga, South Milwaukee, and Violet at home; one brother, Ray Ponick of Jim Falls, Wis., one sister, Mrs. Eva Salentos, Dunedin, Florida and 18 grandchildren.
