Thill, George (31 MAY 1905 - 21 APR 1956)

 

Funeral services for George Thill, owner of the Eidsvold Cheese Factory, were held at the Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley at 11 a.m. Tuesday.  Additional services were held at the Peace Lutheran Church at Clayton Wednesday afternoon.

 

Thill died at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley last Saturday morning at 6 a.m.

 

He was born in Barron County May 31, 1905 and was engaged in the cheesemaking trade in Barron County for 34 years.  He also worked in Wausau and Mosinee areas before coming to the Eidsvold settlement (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1946.

 

He married Elsie Hustle in Barron in 1920 and to Delia Krianke April 11, 1953 at Eau Claire.

 

Among the survivors are three sons: George of Taloto, Calif.; James of Ladysmith, and William of Stanley; a daughter, Mrs. Delores Combs of London, England; four brothers, William of Pearl City, Ill.; Edward of New Auburn and Alfred and Clarence of Clayton.

 

Also surviving are five sisters: Mrs. Frances Kalland, Minneapolis; Mrs. Emma Salkeld, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Emma Marshall, Amery; Mrs. Leona Diedrich, Cameron, and Mrs. Dora Diedrich of Clayton.  Eight grandchildren also survive.

 

Services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley were officiated by the Rev. R.W. Olson.  The body was taken to Clayton for afternoon services officiated by the Rev. A.W. Bunce.
