Urban, Marie "Peg" (28 October 1924 - 16 October 2010)
Marie "Peg" Urban (85) left her family and friends Oct. 16, 2010, after enjoying her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
She was born Oct. 28, 1924, to Henry and Martha (Anschutz) Spille in Jacksonport, Door County, where she spent her childhood, graduated from Sevastopol High School and spent her early adult life before moving to Neillsville in 1947. Her greatest joy is her family, who survives her.
Peg was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville, where she was active as a greeter, altar guild and visitor to the shut-ins.
She enjoyed her part-time job as a clerk at the Farmer’s Store. For many years she bowled in the Neillsville Women’s League. She loved traveling with Joe, spending the winters in Florida together for many years, where they made many new friends, along with their Neillsville friends who wintered there also. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and in her later years enjoyed playing sheepshead at the senior center. Their many trips to California to visit Mary Beth and her family and playing cards with Dick and the boys were always special. She tried to make the best of each day and felt blessed for their caring, kind and loving family.
She is survived by her husband, Joe, whom she married Jan. 31, 1943; daughter, Mary Beth (Tom) Rabe of Bakersfield, CA; son, Dick (Lynda) Urban of Neillsville; granddaughters, Krista Rabe of Bakersfield, CA, and Katie (Kurt) Officer of Marshfield; grandson, Clint (Tonia) Urban of Neillsville; great-grandson, Carter Urban, and great-granddaughter, Kenadi Urban, both of Neillsville; sisters, Lorraine Landfried of Arizona, Eunice McCormick of Sturgeon Bay; a brother, Hank (Marilyn) Spille of Virginia and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; brothers-in-law, John McCormick and Erling Landfried; and great-granddaughter, Claire Urban.
Peg will wait for Joe and memorial services will be held at that time.
Memorials may be made to the Clark County Humane Society, P. O. Box, 127, Neillsville, WI 54456 or to Ministry Home CareHome Health Services, Home Health Donations, 303 W. Upham Street, Marshfield, WI 54449
